Jack, Ste and Harry

It wasn't a very convincing storyline.
Ste and Harry faking a break in and claiming to have stopped the thieves.
Jack would have made sure Harry was alright and he would have checked the CCTV and phoned the police. That is what the insurers would expect.

Also, Jack doesn't live alone, he has a whole house full of people including Tom and the baby, Jade, Esther, Darren and his other half, and apparently it is only a flat, where he finds room for all those people I don't know, but in my previous post, 'Many Rooms' I commented on these magic flats and houses that have endless space.
But wouldn't Jack have consulted the others about taking Ste and Harry in for the night?
And where were these people when Ste burst in on Jack when he was in the shower? What if it had been Jade in the shower?
And on that note. I know Hollyoaks doesn't research, but do they really not know that because Jade is a Foster Child, Jack would have to ring social services and also probably have Ste and Harry CRB checked, and actually, because of Ste and Harry's backgrounds, social services would never allow it?

Come on, Hollyoaks, it is not realistic!
On the subject of social services, have I already written this? When social services gave Patrick custody of Minnie, they actually took him round and let him lift Minnie out of Maxine's arms! No way! Not in real life.

Lovedays and Zak

The Loveday's 'Lisa' situation is going to get more complicated, but it is already a bit too holey.

There are too may questions, for example what happened to the police investigation into Lisa's disappearance and re-appearance.
But one thing about the Lovedays is a glaring inaccuracy.
Zak's accent.
Zak is not the same race as Louis and Simone. Or, he is Jamaican-born Jamaican and they are UK-born? Whichever way round, he is not realistically their son.

And trying to make him into a schoolboy isn't realistic either, he's too old.

And what has happened to the dramatic Maxine and Sienna and Nico situation by the way?

Various Hollyoaks

Hey, I have been busy with Uni, but this blog keeps nagging me.

There are a lot of Mrs St. Clair issues going on.
MYRA RECOGNISES MRS ST CLAIRE
The John-Paul/St.Clair issue is not very congruent or believable even though it was apparently planned from the start, when Mrs St. Clair's character joined the set. But if she was as ethical as she makes herself out to be, then that would mean she should not have overseen the disciplinary case with John-Paul and Harry. Also she should have seen how her treatment of John-Paul would be misconstrued.

JOHN PAUL IS SURPRISED TO SEE HIS DATE FROM LAST NIGHT, JAKEHollyoaks star Annie Wallace reveals the aftermath of the biggest twist of the year

The Diego/Myra situation hasn't been working very well either. But I will look into that later. Diego is surprising though, there should be more men like him. I hope Diego stays. Hollyoaks needs more Diegos and John-Pauls to keep things kind and real.

I think Mrs St. Clair coming into the classroom and announcing to the class that 'Jade's Foster-Father had said she wouldn't be in'. is a bit incongruent.
Correct terminology is not 'foster-father' it is 'foster-carer' and also confidentiality is an issue.
I am not sure about the tree, it doesn't feel right either.

And then Mrs St. Clair sending Tom and Alfie to stand outside her office together alone? Nope. And John Paul kind of patting Tom as he passed? Nope.
Hollyoaks is great, but they don't research well, so they don't understand safeguarding and confidentiality.

That's enough for now.

Wheel in the Kids

You know how in soaps, kids are kind of like posessions, but they are occasionally used to enhance the storyline?
Well in real life, kids are used as posessions as well, I know that.
I mean in Eastenders or some real life situations you get women with drink and smoke roughened voices leaning into people's face and going ' mahhh daauurterr!' To whoever has upset their prized possession. Not because they care about the child, they don't usually know it is human, but because they own it, they don't want it tampered with.

Thankfully Hollyoaks has less of the 'Mahh daauurterr!' stuff, but the children are still not realistically part of the story. So much of the time the character operate without their children and the children are simply never there, never in the house.
Unless someone decides to write them into the storyline occasionally.

Recently Theresa's exit from Hollyoaks brought one of her children into the story, but the other remained hidden, and can you imagine someone actually leaving a child behind? No way, the other child or the family waving goodbye would have noticed even if the mother didn't.

Hollyoaks isn't great with age appropriateness, they treat kids as either too old or too young for their ages.

Many rooms?

You know how in Hollyoaks all the flats seem to have limitless rooms so everyone moves in with each other?
Concertina flats?
I could do with one of those.

A few general comments

I know I have been through some of this stuff on my other blogs so I feel reluctant to go through it again. But I will anyway. Mainly about poor research in Hollyoaks.

Church Yards:

Normally an old churchyard or graveyard closes to burial except for family plots, and the old churchyard that is repeatedly misused in Holloaks is obviously ancient and out of use, and it is really poor that it keeps being used.

Tegan's parents are apparently buried in a new grave in the middle of an old churchyard.

And worse, Mecedes' stillborn son, Gabriel is also buried in a new grave, and quite a big one, right in the middle of an old churchyard that contains only old graves.

Come On! It is so disrespectful and badly done.

Anyway, shall we talk about serial killers?
There are two in Hollyoaks. Rather too many for a village. You shouldn't need serial killer overload to keep a soap alive.

If you think about the amount of incidents that the small cast of Hollyoaks go though in their fictional lives, then you wonder why they aren't all in counselling for PTSD.
The problem is, Hollyoaks has a bad emphasis on mental illness and tends to only send Sienna and Cindy and now Trevor for counselling and makes a big thing about it, as if counselling is only for mental illness.
Hollyoaks has a bad attitude to mental illness generally, but it seems they try to compensate by overdoing LGBT storylines, don't attack me for that, I am not homophobic or prejudiced, you will know that if you have seen me bollocking the Church of England for homophobia.

Anyway, back to Serial Killers. If you count Wilf, then there are three of them on the loose.
The thing is. The serial killer lines are a bit tired because in each killing, CCTV is overlooked, whereas it is used in other storylines, for example Ben attacking Trevor, or Harry and Pete's argument.
There are a lot of holes in the serial killer saga, but I don't have all day to write about it.

Change the subject. Ben and Sienna.

There would never be a time when Sienna would be allowed to ride in her boyfriend's police car and wear his police hat. That is just silly. Some of what goes on in that police force reminds me of Hampshire Constabulary and a certain other police force.

Wait for the next exciting episode!

My Favourite Characters

Trevor Royle. I don't care much about his background. I like his understated sense of humour and his slightly autistic habit of saying it how it is, for example explaining to Grace what a clam is when she called him a clam.
I also find his recent portrayal of flashbacks and PTSD helpful.

Jade and Alfie:

The sweetest couple in Hollyoaks, perfectly suited to each other and long may it last.

Jack Stealing Jade's Money?

And being dishonest about it?
No.
Why corrupt a good character?
That was just pointless and silly.

Introduction

My neighbours and my landlady seem surprised that I would watch something like Hollyoaks, but why not?
It can be shallow and limited, but it is nice to be able to focus away from life's considerable stresses.

I am not the soap fan type, never have been, but for some reason I am a Hollyoaks addict, and I try to spot errors and oversights, which are frequent, and I thought I would blog about them on here rather than the other blog.

I will start posting soon. I ran out of energy today.
